My name is David Pritzker, President and CEO of Raw Surf. We are an adventure tourism business with a passion for surfing. A group of dedicated surfing enthusiasts who love to travel the far reaches of the planet in search of the best waves. A sustainably focused company; supporting the global economy, people, and environment, leaving a clean footprint for the youth. Our educationally and culturally rich surf camps are ideal for youths looking to gain a worldlier perspective on life, as well as learn about foreign cultures, land, and language. And most of all, get to surf in great waves.
We specialize in surf camps, retreats, family surf trips (we get photos and video of your kids surfing), guides, photography, and custom adventure tours. We travel to places like Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Brazil, Peru, to name a few. Our guide operators are highly skilled, bi-lingual, knowledgeable of the local areas, and avid surfers. We aspire to travel the entire world, with visions set on Africa, Israel, and even India has become a thought.
I myself am 37 years old, native Floridian, who’s passionate for surfing, with an entrepreneurial mindset. Having a great deal of experience in e-business, and inspiration from someone close to me, I put my dreams into reality, and launched Raw Surf (originally called Raw Surfing Adventures). https://www.raw.surf/
Q&A with David
Q: What has been the best lesson that you have learned along your journey so far?
A: The best lesson I can say I’ve learned along the way in my journey is that of learning to really believe in yourself. To not give up, and to be flexible in your plans. Just always keep that end dream, goal, vision, in the back of your mind. Sometimes you just must ride out the storm, and wait for the waves to glass off, yeah know? Improvisation, and determination go hand in hand. Never let what anyone else tells you stop you from doing what you love. If you can incorporate helping others into what you do, you will ultimately succeed.
Q: Why is this the best lesson that you have learned so far?
A: Because most importantly of all in life we need believe in, and love ourselves. If we stay focused on the things we love and are passionate about, we will never work a day in our lives. And because when we genuinely help others, we are providing real value in that persons life. We can really make a difference, a real impact on people and the planet. That is real true value I am proud to say we strive for. Essential to sustaining our planet, and life, through cultural diversity, exploration, spreading economic growth, and enriching not just those who already have, but minorities in developing parts of the world too. Stick to your determination. There are a lot of naysayers out there who are in fear themselves. So please believe in yourself. Take the steps to work on how you feel about you. Treat yourself right. In the end you’re all that you’ve got. Even though its been tough, as it has not been easy trip, I try to set an example and lead the way.
Q: What advice do you have for a fellow entrepreneur who is experiencing the same issue that you dealt with?
A: I would advise other entrepreneurs to always seek help. If you run into a brick wall, or dead end. Do not lose hope. Just take a step back, a deep breath, and maybe even take a break for a bit. Then come back again fresh the next day and try and look at it from a different perspective. If you have access to college resources, I would highly recommend reaching out to your local University. Being a UCF student, I have utilized their business school’s economic leadership program, Black Stone Launchpad for a ton of guidance to make sure I was on the right track. Keep a circle of positive people in your life. Surround yourself with people who encourage and believe in you.
Q: What drives you to continue along your journey?
A: I can see it clearly in the back of my mind. I’ve experienced it, just not yet full time. But I’ve had a taste, and I won’t relent! To guide people to their potential, through surfing. To help people bring back memories to share and last a lifetime, while getting to experience the world first hand. To help businesses get exposure, and local communities to grow from poverty to prosperity. All through culturally rich travel exploration, and surfing. To live a fulfilling life and contribute positively into this world for future generations. This is what really fuels me to keep on going. It used to be to prove myself, my worthiness, to others, and then unto myself. But that all changed as I started to grow and understand that if we just focus on loving ourselves and on doing things we love. We will have a much deeper and meaningful life.
Q: What is your favorite motivational quote?
A: “Money is numbers and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy, your search for happiness will never end.” – Robert Nesta Marley
