Benefits of surfing have long been known for rejuvenating the body, mind, and soul. And these benefits have been evident for those who participate in Surfers For Autism events, a charitable organization founded in 2007 that provides these such events for families of autism. Activities of the day include not only surfing, but also paddle boarding, kayaking, live music, with the entire community participating.
These events take place all over the state of Florida providing a safe and fun environment for autistic people, and their families alike. Volunteers paddle out with participants and coach them through catching and riding the small summer time waves. There is no prior experience necessary to participate and all the events are free of charge for everyone.
A lot of the participants look forward to Surfers for Autism events all year as these events are highlights to their lives and provide memories and growth. IF anyone is interested in volunteering in the future contact Surfers For Autism.
